How to explain the new media paradigm shift

I’m a digital marketer – but how do you explain that to your Mother, Aunt, or to somebody who grew up BG (before google)?  Here’s a nifty video that illustrates the old way and the paradigm shift to the new way.

If you are still having problems explaining what it is you do as a digital marketer, you can do what I do and default to my second answer = “i go to meetings and respond to email for a living” :)

Thanks to Katrina Banovic who found this gem & shared it with our team last week.

Thanks, Phil. Videos like these and the "Did you Know ?" variants are excellent (and let's face it, entertaining) ways to get conservative clients to snap to attention and look at the world outside their cubicle - if only for the duration and approvals of the recommendations one follows up with.
  • Ferne - the 40+ demographic is actually one of the fastest growing... so you may still have luck finding that boy you kissed in grade 2!

Vero - Not going to MWC this year unfortunately... no budget and not good optics in this economy. i will be following what i can online though!

Let me know if you make it to this side of the pond
  • Blimey, it's a media course boiled down to the basics! A lot for people to take in at once, but I'll definitely be republishing that video shortly.

    Great find, Phil!

As an aside, be sure to pop by the Taptu stand if you're attending MWC again this year - I won't be there but wait til you see the cool stuff at the stand!
  • I loved this video - really sends a great message visually to the folks.

Technology should not be frightening people but assisting them in their work/play - need to close that generation gap for sure.

Currently Facebook is dominated by the "young and restless" - would really like to see more baby boomers contribute - we have alot to say and most important the experience.

Good information - keep it rollin'!
