snap ads are like google ad words for banners ads

Recently i discovered a new site / service called snap ads.  The way it works is that you upload your ad to the service in a specified photoshop format (with layers) and they’ll in turn publish variations of your ad in the network

Like google ad words which will optimize variations of your text ad for optimal peformance, snapads.com will optimize colour and other layer details for each site and start displaying the top performing variations.

By changing the look / appearance of your ad, the idea is that users will become more engaged – or at least notice the ad where otherwise they may not.

Initial trials have shown significant performance improvements over traditional banner ad strategies and placements.

For those of you who do online media planning / buying and are being pressured away from cpm buys into cpc or performance buys, this is one tool to experiement with.

i wonder if you can use the same technology to personalize the ads. at the very least the “clients” location is available, and potentially tonnes of other personal 411 (thinking amazon.ca)

I can see this idea of changing your logo on a trial basis or trying it on a new product or company.
    Many people are brand loyal!
I can see the potential of attracting a new client base though.
    Neat idea!!!

too often I seem to get annoyed from seeing the same add (The Pentax Optio camera commercial with the My Generation Theme song is the one I seem to see most often and it drives me crazy!!!) But change it up, recapture my attention and maybe I’d be willing look again.

So many new ways to spend your advertising dollar. I liked it better when all you had to do was select the proper print medium.

It seems today nobody reads ad e-mails or even answers their own phone. Do I really believe the company that promises to e blast my message to 100,000 opt in readers? Internet “impressions” are just that and bidding on internet ad space works only if your product or service does not have competitors with larger budgets.

Or am I being too cynical?

David – initial version allows you to show variations of the design only… so no personalization – but love that idea. Something to look for!

Dave West – i definitely agree… and in combination with google ad words you can really maximize your marketing spend

Sasha – Agreed… and to Dave’s point, if we could personalize the ad too based on relevance you have bingo

Don – I think you have a reason to be somewhat cynical – especially considering that over 17% of ads online are fraud – meaning they are being clicked on bots instead of ppl who will never buy your products. Having said that, it’s our new reality and there is no going back to old way. Check out the post from today (Feb 2) on the new media paradigm shift.
