From my perspective, the project will either make data portability a reality this year... or go down as a great PR stunt. 

Certainly the right people are involved to make this a reality across the ecosystem... but it&#039;s probably too early to tell if this project will maintain its momentum

What&#039;s also interesting to me is that facebook (the site with the most at risk from data portability)  has a front row seat at this table. 

Many of us will be following with great interest! 

They&#039;ve also started a facebook group on the data portability project - I recommend you join if you want to follow it more directly - or even participate in the evolution of the process</description>

What I wonder is, how close are we to the point where we can confidently implement a data portabililty standard on client work? We talk about media portability a lot, mostly in the context of embed, send to a friend, etc, but full portability feels a ways away still.</description>
