What a great video! Thanks for the find.
What I wonder is, how close are we to the point where we can confidently implement a data portabililty standard on client work? We talk about media portability a lot, mostly in the context of embed, send to a friend, etc, but full portability feels a ways away still.

From my perspective, the project will either make data portability a reality this year… or go down as a great PR stunt.
Certainly the right people are involved to make this a reality across the ecosystem… but it’s probably too early to tell if this project will maintain its momentum
What’s also interesting to me is that facebook (the site with the most at risk from data portability) has a front row seat at this table.
Many of us will be following with great interest!
They’ve also started a facebook group on the data portability project - I recommend you join if you want to follow it more directly - or even participate in the evolution of the process
